Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival at Casablanca Airport
Arrival at Casablanca airport. Meeting and transfer to the riad with the option to visit the Hassan II Mosque with a guided walking tour and lunch in Corniche (coastal area).
Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen
After breakfast, our journey from 8-Day Imperial Cities and Desert Tour begins in the political capital of Morocco: Rabat, to explore the highlights of it, if time permits: Chellah necropolis, Royal Palaces, (with possibility to enter), Kasbah of Oudayas, Hassan Tower and tombs of the royal family. Drive to Chefchaouen via Ouazane with stops along the way for a drink and fresh air. accommodations at Hotel.
Day 3: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Fez
After breakfast at your Riad, free morning to explore the Medina of Chefchaouen: a beautiful unique city with its white walls and blue doors and windows. Unlike many parts of Morocco, this city was occupied by Spain and the influences of Spanish civilization and architecture are present everywhere. You will also have the opportunity to meet locals and walk around this beautiful Medina.
Lunch in Chefchaouen (optional). We will drive along the Rif Mountains with a brief stop at the Roman ruins of Volubilis (free time to walk and explore). Our trip day will end in Fez. Night at Hotel. another day of your 8 Days Morocco Desert Tour ends here.
Day 4: Fez city tour with local guide
After breakfast, a local guide in Fez will accompany you on your 8 Days Morocco Desert Tour to explore the oldest imperial city in Moroccan history. Our visit will include, if time permits: Medersa (Koranic school), Attarin or Bou-Inania. The Quaraouiyine mosque was founded by Fatima Bint al-Fihria in the 9th century A.D. Fountain and museum of Nejjarine. Bab Boujloud, the blue and green door. Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss II. Tanneries of Chouwara and have the feeling of having stepped back in time. The water clock dating from the fourteenth century A.D. Souks. Traditional ceramics and Merenid Tombs. The afternoon is at leisure for a stroll in the streets of the old medina. Spend the night in a riad.
Day 5: Fes to Merzouga Via Ifrane and Apple City.
After breakfast At your Hotel our driver will pick you up to departure for Ifrane, a town located in the Middle Atlas in a mountainous area 1,713 meters above sea level, with a cold climate that has influenced the nickname of little African Switzerland. After Ifrane, we will take the road to Midelt, where we will make a short stop in the famous cedar forests of the Middle Atlas. Barbary monkeys, a species of macaque found only here and in Gibraltar, live here in one of the last communities.
We follow the route through the spectacular Ziz Valley. The route through the Ziz Valley passes through limestone gorges overgrown, with tall date palms and mixed with adobe houses, making it a spectacular sight. The Ziz River originates in the High Atlas and winds its way through impressive cliffs, heading south, where it irrigates the huge palm grove of Tafilalet. The water marks the way into the desert, where it disappears after more than 270 km.
In the afternoon arrive in Merzouga at the foot of the dunes, leave the 4×4 and board the camels that will take us to the high desert dunes, to enjoy an unforgettable sunset. We’ll spend the night in a Berber tent and enjoy a traditional dinner to the sound of the tam-tam (drum), in the true heart of the desert.
Day 6 : Merzouga To Ouarzazate Via Todra Gorges.
Departure by road towards the palm groves of Rissani and Jorf, located on the right bank of the Oued Ziz, then towards Xar Tourug; framed by impressive oases. Then we will pass through Tinejdad and reach Tineghir. After lunch pass through the Todra Gorges to the beautiful Boumaln-Dades valley and visit Kelaat M’guna and the Valley of the Roses, where in the month of May full splendor reigns. Arrival in Ouarzazate, an opportunity to visit the Kasbah of Taurirt, which was the residence of the Pasha of Marrakech.
Day 7 : Ouarzazate to Marrakech Via Ait Ben Haddou and High Atlas
After breakfast and before continuing on to Marrakech, you will visit the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, where many movies were filmed, including The Sahara, Kingdom of Heaven, Cleopatra and Gladiator. We will then continue on to Marrakech, passing through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’tichka Pass. On the slopes of the mountains you will see Berber villages and farms. Arrival in Marrakech in the afternoon and end of the route.
Day 8 : Touring Marrakech – Airport Transfer
After Your Breakfast at Hotel you will Meet with Local Guide to Visit the city that named Morocco. For part of the year it stretches out in front of the majestic Atlas with its snow-capped peaks. Its destiny is linked to the fate of the various dynasties that have succeeded each other and to its tradition as a political, economic and cultural metropolis.
